First Easy Tunes for Beginning Trumpet Players

·

,

If you’re new to this site WELCOME! Here’s a jumping off post for beginning Trumpet players looking for some easy melodies to play. These are mostly close our old friend – the Concert Bb major scale but there will be the odd one with a different note or a key signature just to keep you on your toes.

These tunes start a little harder than the ones in the LOW NOTE MELODIES for Beginning TRUMPET Players post. If you haven’t played those and find these ones difficult, go there first.

Any tune can be played in a dozen different keys. With most of these tunes you’ll find that there is a key that uses the easiest, most familiar notes . There’ll also be another version or two of exactly the same tune in different keys. The plan here is to get you used to the idea that any tune can be played in a variety of keys, and that obeying a key signature is the way to make that happen. If that sounds complicated – it isn’t. You’ll get it very quickly (or you can just ignore the extra version(s) and leave them for later). If the best way to get really good at obeying key signatures is to get good at playing scales, the next best thing is to play familiar music that involves obeying them. That’s one of the reasons this post exists. Each tune tells you which key you’re playing in and also – in brackets – what the “concert ” key is. That’s just there in case you have someone helping you that isn’t playing a Bb instrument like your Trumpet.

If I get ambitious I’ll get some recordings of the melodies into the posts, but you can always search the web for recordings of anything unfamiliar.

These are some easy tunes for Trumpet players:
